Day to Day

Staff

One of the church's accomplishments is providing people to work as Fulltime Staff and Volunteers for Nuevo Reto. Ninety percent of the people working in the ministry had given their lives to the Lord through Templo de la Gloria church (Glory Chapel). Here some testimonies:

Margarita, is a young lady 30 years old, who came from the fields to the city escaping her abusive alcoholic husband. She already had a boy two years old who used to be fed coffee all day long. He could barely keep on his feet because of malnutrition. He could not talk either. Margarita started working as a maid in Nuevo Reto and when we learned of her situation with her husband and her child, plus being pregnant with another child; we presented Jesus to her and she came to know the Lord. As a result we ended up with a great worker and two precious children now growing under the protection of Nuevo Reto. After 8 years, Margarita loves the Lord, loves the kids in the ministry and serves the Lord with a grateful heart as key leader of the First Phase.

Hilda, a sweet sister in the Lord, mother of 4 grown kids and a lovely grandmother is a great help to Nuevo Reto. When she joined our church in 1993, she was very concerned for her health because in her family background there was an inheritance of death. Her two older brothers had died before reaching the age of 45 and other relatives of her as well. One day she asked for prayer because she was afraid of dying as she was over her 40s. We prayed for her, and this past month of January 2007 we celebrated her birthday number 55. God is good! Now she is the key leader for the Second Phase.

We give glory to the Lord who has touched the heart of people like Isabel de la Cruz, Elena, Dario, Isabel II, Nohemi and Carmen who work either full time of part time for Nuevo Reto.

I have to mention my wife Nidia who is the one who takes charge when I travel or get so busy with other areas of the ministry.

Projects

  • Computer Room and Library

We already have some computer monitors for our computer project. The purpose is to teach our kids some computer skills.

The Library has some books but we still need some specific books for the 6 - 9 grades.

  • Second phase

Boys and Girls older than twelve are transferred to the Second Phase program that offers continuity for the students until the age of 18. They will not be thrown out just because they reach the adult age. They are encouraged to finish their formal education until they graduate from College.

The Second Program includes formal education, vocational training and support towards independence.

We already have a piece of property with some construction to be used for the Second Phase (boys), located 5 blocks from the actual building (First Phase). This construction project is designed to provide a separated room for each boy so they will be able to have their own space and privacy. It will be a complex of 16 rooms and have all of the commodities of a house.

The cost of this construction project is $60,000.00

  • Church building

Our church building, (200 chairs) is about 50% complete. We only need $20,000.00 toward completion. 80% of surrounding walls are finished. Roof, finishing on the walls, tile and bathrooms and office are left.

  • Children's Church Building

The Lord has blessed Glory Chapel Kids with its own property. We are planning to build a three story building which will enable us to host our children by ages in different classrooms and a multi-purpose area.

  • Crisis Center

We keep praying and looking for opportunities to have a Crisis Center - a ministry to offer meals, clothes, beds and evangelism opportunities for kids wandering in the streets.

Our Needs

The Lord has blessed us with a beautiful building with capacity for 40 kids, boys and girls under the age of twelve. We are committed to work with the kids and help them with all of our heart. We appreciate the partnership of those already supporting us on a monthly base. In order to open the doors for at least 25 more kids we need to raise $5,000.00 for our ongoing monthly budget.

It will take only 25 churches blessing us with $100.00 monthly and 100 individuals donating $25.00 a month to cover the needed budget.

Library

Our Library is in need of specific books for the 6th to the 12th grades. Computer Room

We need 6 computers, printers and desks for our Computer Room
A copy machine will help a lot for our educational program.

Construction Projects

Even though we have completed the construction of the building for the First Phase (boys and girls under the age of twelve); we are in need of building the Second Phase building. Our church building is about 50% complete.

We need Construction Teams who will come to bless us with their labor of love.

Volunteers

Our Educational Program includes, alongside with formal education, teaching English as a second language and computer skills. Volunteers are welcome to be a part of this program.

Donations
  • Any financial donation will be very much appreciated.
  • Food
  • Clothes
  • Shoes
  • School supplies
  • Household appliances are continuously needed.
Transportation

We are in great need of a 16-passenger van, 4 cylinderl, standard transmission. Due to the continuous increases in the gasoline prices, we cannot use 8 cylinder vehicles.
